Gravis Carry On Luggage – Lined with Palestinian Head-scarf?!
So I’m about to fly around the world for a bit, and looking for a dependable carry-on roller that I can fill with my standard cabin baggage: Blister-pack of generic Valium, 2.25L of duty-free rum, digital SLR, a laptop, iPod and other necessities.
I came across this Gravis Cabin Bag online. I like Gravis stuff, it’s higher-quality than most surf/skate/snow gear, designed by ex-Burton crew and is generally finished with a finer level of detail.
This particular fine detail struck me as odd: The inside of their “Jetway” model seems to be lined with an Arab head-scarf design (Shemagh or Keffayeh, I believe) in the traditional Palestinian colours.

Gravis Luggage lined with Arab head-scarf!
Now call me paranoid, but in these troubling times, it’s arguably unwise to try clearing US border security when your luggage liner looks like it was borrowed from a Fatah freedom fighter.
P.S Just noticed even finer detail: Is the pattern actually made up of tiny US political party emblems – the donkey (democrat) and the elephant (republicans)? That’s bringing the whole thing to a whole new level of irony. A level where Transport Safety Authority (TSA) guards shoot first and ponder questions of post-modern pastiche later, probably.
