The Great Blue Hole (Belize)
Belize: The Great Blue Hole on Lighthouse Reef Atoll is a popular diving spot, part of Belize’s Barrier Reef (part of the world’s second-largest reef system).
Visible in a flyover, and on Google Maps, the hole is about 300m in diameter and 120m deep. It was formed when an underwater cave’s roof collapsed around 10,000 years ago.
I’m no pussy in the water, but I just couldn’t imagine swimming across this thing. Garh!
